Local female motorcycle club’s donation will help fill large need for stuffed animals that provide children with much needed comfort
PHILADELPHIA (February 1, 2020) – Jerzy Devilz, a chapter of Chrome Angelz RC International, the largest all- female riding club in the world, presented a generous donation of 1,700 stuffed animals to Philadelphia Children’s Alliance last week. PCA is the sole agency in the City of Philadelphia equipped to provide a collaborative response to more than 3,000 reports of child sexual abuse each year.
Each child who comes to the Philadelphia Children’s Alliance (PCA) for services is gifted a new stuffed animal. In the wake of COVID-19, PCA’s supply of stuffed animals has become badly depleted. The generous donation from the Jerzy Devilz will allow PCA to continue its tradition of providing victims with a little comfort during a difficult time.
“Children come to PCA at a time when they need all the healing, comfort, and support we can provide,” said Nuria Orsino, Manager of Victim Services at the Philadelphia Children’s Alliance. “When we hand a child a stuffed animal, it puts a smile on their face and gives them something to hold onto while they confront situations which would be challenging for any adult.”
Through the Jerzy Devilz's “Wingz of Hope” program, riders volunteer their time by collecting much needed personal care items, food and clothing, and stuffed animals for people in need across the region.

PCA works with partners at the Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victims Unit, the Department of Human Services Sexual Abuse Investigative Unit, St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and Philadelphia District Attorney staff. Under the umbrella of the Philadelphia Safety Collaborative, victims of child sexual abuse receive support, counseling services and forensic interviews all under one roof in a child-friendly facility.
