Ricky Schermond, LCSW

Manager of Clinical Counseling Services

As the Manager of Clinical Services at PCA, Ricky is responsible for overseeing the mental health services provided by the in-house therapy team including the recruitment, training, and supervision of PCA’s therapists and clinical interns. Ricky also supervises the CVHT Assessment Specialist who assists in identifying and supporting victims and survivors of commercial exploitation/trafficking. Part of Ricky’s role is ensuring that youth and their families who come to PCA for therapeutic services have a safe, confidential space to heal from their trauma with compassionate, highly trained individuals that understand the needs of families after disclosures of abuse.

Before coming to PCA in 2019, Ricky has been providing assessment, treatment, and care coordination across Philadelphia to youth, adults, and families who have experienced interpersonal violence and other traumas for about a decade. They have worked extensively with hospital- and home-based violence intervention, integrating behavioral healthcare into medical practices, supervising Certified Peer/Recovery Specialists, and forensic services. They have spoken at various community agencies, universities, and conferences regarding trauma, interpersonal violence, sexual health and behavior, the impact of gender roles and identity, and LGBTQIA-affirming care.

Ricky is a licensed clinical social worker who holds a Master’s degree in Social Services from Bryn Mawr College.
