Ricky Schermond is a licensed clinical social worker from Philadelphia who has worked with youth, families, and adults who have experienced violence over the past 9 years. They previously worked within a hospital-based violence intervention program to support youth and their families after experiencing community violence. In the past, they have also performed thorough risk assessments of convicted perpetrators of sexual and other violent offenses to ensure community safety. Ricky’s latest position included developing and managing a community-based integrated care team to connect individuals with complex medical needs to behavioral health services. They hold a firm belief that every child regardless of identity, background, or circumstances deserves to have their voice heard, space to heal, and access to justice within communities that are safe and affirming.
Ricky has spoken at various community agencies, universities, and conferences regarding trauma-informed care, adolescent development, the impact of gender roles and identity, LGBTQIA-affirming care, sexual health and behavior, and the contributing factors/effects of interpersonal violence.
In their off-time, Ricky enjoys spending time with family and loved ones, writing, storytelling, gaming, playing music (badly), and relaxing in the city.
