Mission:
The Philadelphia Children's Alliance (PCA) is an independent non-profit organization that promotes healing and justice for sexually abused children in Philadelphia. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we collaborate with our partners in child protection, law enforcement, and medical and mental health services to provide forensic interviews, victim support and counseling services at the Philadelphia Safety Collaborative, a co-located child-friendly facility. We are committed to using the best practices and we promote this model locally and nationally.
Summary:
Under the leadership of the Director of Victim Services the Bilingual Family Advocate is responsible for providing culturally competent advocacy and support services to children and families impacted by sexual abuse. This role involves guiding families through the investigative and legal processes, connecting them to mental health and medical resources, and ensuring they receive ongoing support.
Key Job Duties:
- Provide direct advocacy and emotional support to children and non-offending caregivers in English and Spanish.
- Educate families about the investigative process and assist with Crime Victims’ Compensation applications.
- Serve as a liaison between families and law enforcement, medical, and mental health service providers.
- Conduct trauma screenings and connect families to appropriate therapy services.
- Assist with court support, ensuring families understand legal proceedings.
- Maintain detailed case documentation in NCAtrak.
- Participate in community outreach efforts, particularly within the Latino community.
Experience/ Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field (master’s preferred).
- 2-3 years of case management experience, preferably working with children and trauma survivors.
- Fluency in Spanish (spoken & written) is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Knowledge of child abuse reporting laws and victim services is a plus.
- Ability to work one evening per week as needed.
