Mission: The Philadelphia Children's Alliance (PCA) is an independent non-profit organization that promotes healing and justice for sexually abused children in Philadelphia. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we collaborate with our partners in child protection, law enforcement, and medical and mental health services to provide forensic interviews, victim support and counseling services at the Philadelphia Safety Collaborative, a co-located child-friendly facility. We are committed to using best practices and we promote this model locally and nationally.
Position Summary:
The Philadelphia Children’s Alliance’s (PCA) is hiring a part-time Grant Writer. PCA is dedicated to leading a coordinated response to achieve safety, healing, justice, and prevention for children and families impacted by the adverse childhood experiences of sexual abuse, exploitation, and violence.
Reporting to the Director of Development and Communications the Grant Writer will identify potential funding opportunities; set and maintain grant timelines and deadlines; write and submit letters of intent, grant proposals, and reports; and edit content for grant funding opportunities. The Grant Writer will submit all grant information for inclusion in PCA’s donor databases and maintain status reports on all grant activities as well as collaborate with the PCA staff to ensure accurate, timely and complete compliance with all grant-related activity.
The Grant Writer will work up 15-20 hours/week or 80 hours/month, and ideally half of that time will be in person at PCA’s offices.

- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- High proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office, donor databases, grant portals
Responsibilities:
- Develop and submit proposals, reports, letters of inquiry, and other grant-related materials.
- Research potential funding opportunities to meet identified funding needs; recommend prospects and solicitation strategies
- Collaborate with staff members across the organization in the development of accurate, timely, and compelling submissions to current and prospective funders as assigned, including corporate, government, foundation and family foundation donors.
- Assure compliance with all funder-specific guidelines and requirements.
- Establish and maintain an annual grant calendar, including submission, renewal, and reporting dates and deliverables.
- Maintain a status report for all current grant prospects, pending applications and completed applications and ensure Development and Communications staff is fully informed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required,
- At least 4 years of experience in the field of grant writing with a demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals.
- Knowledge of foundations and corporate foundations in Philadelphia and beyond.
