"Lisa's" Story
Age 10, West Philly
Hear Ashley Christiansen, MFT, Youth Problematic Sexual Behavior Clinician, talk about what families can expect
from a PCA trauma therapy session.
At 10, Lisa’s daily life had become unmanageable.
She couldn’t concentrate in school, she was too anxious to spend time with friends,
and she was lashing out whenever someone tried to understand.
One day, Lisa’s younger brother walked in on their 20-year-old step brother attacking Lisa.
Everything unravelled from there. Lisa’s abuser was not only a member of her family, he lived in her home.
Her mom called the police, and PCA responded on a crisis timeline.
With the help of PCA, Lisa was able to feel comfortable, talk about the last 3 years with her forensic interviewer,
and see an on-site doctor who assured her that her body was healthy and that she was safe.
