Philadelphia Children’s Alliance Hosts Impactful Event with Legislators to Address Child Abuse


Philadelphia, PA – October 11, 2023 – Philadelphia Children’s Alliance (PCA), a leading organization dedicated to providing healing and justice for children and families affected by sexual abuse, hosted its annual legislative breakfast, featuring distinguished speakers and key stakeholders from Pennsylvania’s leadership.

The event was held at PCA's facility, and attendees had the opportunity to participate in guided tours before and after the program. Spearheaded by Benita Williams, PCA Executive Director, the event featured prominent speakers who addressed crucial aspects of child welfare and protection. Notable speakers included Samuel B. Harrison III, Deputy Commissioner for Child Welfare Operations; Captain Margo Alleyne-Parker from the Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit; Dana Masciantonio from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office; Dr. Norrell K. Atkinson and Dr. Colleen E. Bennett from Christopher’s Hospital for Children and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, respectively; Carlyn Crawley from the Office of Councilwoman Quetcy Lozada; and a PCA Parent.

In 2023, Philadelphia Children’s Alliance provided critical support to 1,674 child victims of abuse and their families throughout Philadelphia. Executive Director Benita Williams, stated, “This event brings legislators from across the state to learn more about the important work we do. Our collaborative efforts with various stakeholders across Philadelphia ensure a comprehensive approach to addressing child sexual abuse and its aftermath.”
