Project Safe and Smart
"My kindergartner came home talking about how much they loved the puppet show and how much she learned about keeping her
body safe.
My wife and I really enjoyed the activity book that we got to do with her at home and the excitement she had for something so important. What a great addition to their curriculum!"

Mifflin School in East Falls
Project Safe and Smart empowers children and their parents
to recognize and prevent potential child abuse by
bringing prevention education directly into classrooms.
Specially trained facilitators from Philadelphia Children's Alliance implement this evidence-based program through classroom-based sessions for children and workshops for caregivers in School District of Philadelphia and Philadelphia-based charter schools.
The goal of Project Safe and Smart is to maximize the likelihood of identifying potential abuse, stop harmful situations, and prevent future child sexual abuse within our communities.
Project Safe and Smart will provide:
- Safe Touches: an interactive and age-appropriate puppet-based workshop delivered to students in Kindergarten through third grade, teaching and reinforcing important body safety concepts
- Smarter Parents. Safer Kids: a universal prevention workshop delivered to parents or caregivers of children under age 13, teaching and building skills related to child healthy sexual development, communicating with children about boundaries, ensuring safety, and obtaining help and resources
Our program partner,
The Joseph J. Peter's Institute(JJPI),
administers similar programs throughout other schools in the city.
The program is funded by the Pennsylvania Commission
on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).
